德国之声:巴勒斯坦妇女谈在以色列监狱的经历

2025.1.26

00:00 Emily gin is following the story for us

00:03 she's our correspondent in Jerusalem

00:05 hello Emily Hamas released four Israeli

00:08 hostages today what's going on with them

00:10 back

00:13 home that's right they were reunited

00:16 with their families at re military base

00:19 we already saw the footage of them being

00:21 embraced by their parents um they were

00:23 then flown by a helicopter to the Rabin

00:26 Medical Center outside of Tel Aviv where

00:28 they're undergoing medical treatment and

00:30 medical evaluation uh that's also where

00:32 they met other family members such as

00:34 their siblings for example now we've

00:36 already heard as well as well from a top

00:38 medical from a top um official in the

00:40 Israeli Health Ministry about um the

00:43 treatment that that they're receiving

00:44 there uh so far they've gone through uh

00:47 quite an extensive medical evaluation

00:49 that was quote emotionally and medically

00:51 complex but I think it's safe to say

00:53 that for the families it's a huge relief

00:55 in of itself to see their um daughters

00:58 uh come back alive

01:00 right now as part of the ceasefire

01:03 Israel has also released Palestinian

01:05 prisoners what do we know about

01:10 them that's right so for every um

01:12 soldier that Hamas released Israel for

01:15 its part released um 50 Palestinian uh

01:18 prisoners um now um we're talking about

01:21 some 120 of these prisoners are said to

01:23 be um have said to be um serving life

01:27 sentences in Israeli prisons um some

01:29 some were convicted for multiple murders

01:32 including um the killing of Israeli

01:35 civilians um that being said there's

01:37 also some very young prisoners who were

01:39 released the youngest one being 16 years

01:41 old um the oldest one being 69 years old

01:44 and we also know that the most serious

01:46 um offenders didn't actually arrive in

01:48 the occupied West Bank they were flown

01:50 out of they were taken out of the

01:51 country via Egypt to neighboring

01:53 countries such as Qatar and Turkey right

01:56 so you filmed with a young Palestinian

01:59 woman who was part of last week's

02:01 prisoner release let's have a look and

02:03 come back to you

02:05 afterwards name name it was the day Amal

02:09 Shaya had been waiting for after seven

02:12 long months in an Israeli prison she was

02:15 finally released as part of the Seas

02:17 fire deal between Israel and

02:20 Hamas the joy is Indescribable thank God

02:23 almost a week later we meet her at home

02:26 with her family in the occupied West

02:28 Bank she's still getting used to being

02:31 here the memories of the day of her

02:33 arrest still etched in her

02:38 mind when we were taken to the Detention

02:41 Center the four strip searches for

02:43 female prisoners

02:45 began which is a very bad experience

02:48 that Palestinian female prisoners go

02:50 through when entering any Detention

02:54 Center they would do these searches

02:56 daily often late at night they would

02:59 confess at our clothes our personal

03:01 belongings dishes and

03:03 pots Amal was studying journalism in her

03:06 last year at B to University in near

03:09 rala when the Israeli military arrested

03:11 her for what they say was inciting

03:15 violence the occupiers were opposed to

03:17 student activism on the University

03:19 campus even though this student activism

03:22 is officially approved by the University

03:25 Administration for her family it's a

03:27 relief to see her back home having been

03:30 prevented from visiting her for the

03:32 entire time she was

03:34 incarcerated Amal says that was one of

03:36 the worst parts of being in

03:41 prison we'd see our families just for a

03:44 few seconds during the court session

03:47 which was held

03:48 electronically we would only see them

03:50 for very brief

03:52 moments if I tried to communicate with

03:55 them during that time or signal to

03:57 reassure them I was in good health

04:00 the soldier would cut off the

04:02 connection and everything would end

04:04 there it was a feeling of deep

04:07 oppression and

04:09 humiliation reports like these are

04:11 common among Palestinians who were

04:13 released from Israeli prisons according

04:16 to the prisoner advocacy group adamir

04:19 this together with reports of starvation

04:21 policies overcrowding and lack of proper

04:24 medical attention and even when people

04:27 are released they may not be free for

04:30 long all of the detes whether being

04:32 released to the West Bank or to East

04:33 Jerusalem uh they need to uh

04:35 continuously show up for core uh Court

04:38 appointments and in this you know uh

04:40 it's very possible that the detainee

04:42 could be easily targeted and faced with

04:45 uh rearrest basically because with all

04:47 previous um uh C sort of exchange deals

04:51 that we've seen before the detainees

04:53 were um subjected to rearrests even the

04:56 no November 2023 deal um majority well

04:59 not majority 27 of the uh freed

05:02 detainees were subjected to rearrest for

05:04 now Amal is trying to settle back into

05:06 her old life she tells me that she wants

05:09 to get back to her podcast that she

05:12 started at

05:13 University and finish her degree to

05:15 become a journalist herself so she can

05:18 continue telling the stories of other

05:20 [Music]

05:22 Palestinians of course being arrested

05:24 will not stop us from delivering our

05:25 message from conveying our cause to the

05:28 world but honestly will be more cautious

05:30 in how we deliver the

05:32 message this a reflection of the

05:34 uncertainty many Palestinians face as

05:37 they look to their

05:39 future Emily good reporting there so

05:43 your protagonist was arrested for

05:45 inciting violence are there many other

05:48 released prisoners who were arrested for

05:50 such minor

05:54 crimes the short answer to that is yes

05:57 uh and it is something that a human

05:59 rights organiz ganizations have

06:00 continuously criticized uh Israel for um

06:04 when we look at the women and the

06:06 children who were released last weekend

06:08 as part of the first uh phase of the

06:10 ceas V deal between Israel and Hamas

06:12 many of them were arrested for for

06:14 example what they wrote on social media

06:17 um for participating in protests or

06:19 especially when it comes to kids for

06:20 throwing stones and um the Israeli and

06:23 the human rights organizations even go

06:24 as far as to say that Israel is as in

06:26 fact incarcerating um people um as uh in

06:31 order to have them sort of in their

06:33 prisons as a future bargaining chip in

06:35 when it comes to negations such as what

06:37 we're seeing right now so really heavy

06:39 um accusations there regarding uh the

06:42 conditions under which um the conditions

06:43 under which um Palestinians are being

06:45 arrested um on top of uh the conditions

06:48 of the Israeli prisons themselves that

06:50 the UN also has criticized on multiple

06:52 occasions over the last few years and

06:54 what's important to say here I think as

06:55 well is that what we're hearing from

06:57 Human Rights organizations is that uh

06:59 since the attacks by Hamas on October

07:02 7th uh on 2023 the intensity of the

07:05 arrests and the conditions uh of the

07:08 prisons themselves has rapidly it's it's

07:11 deteriorated incredibly right DW's Emily

07:14 gordin reporting from Jerusalem thank

07:18 you now AMJ shawa is head of the

07:21 Palestinian non-governmental

07:22 organizations Network he joins us now

07:24 from De albala in the central Gaza Strip

07:27 hello Mr Sher some Palestinian prisoners

07:30 released today just arrived in Gaza tell

07:33 us what's

07:36 happening yes they just arrived to the

07:39 European Hospital be have medical check

07:42 after they arrived and uh they are

07:45 waiting for that they can manage to meet

07:48 with their families part of their

07:50 families were killed in this war and

07:53 just to correct what you have

07:55 mentioned it's not they are not the

07:57 criminals who were released today AML

08:00 wasn't committed any crime AML she was

08:04 struggling demonstrating her opinion

08:06 about the occupation so so so she was

08:09 arrested so it's not minor crime it's

08:12 kind what the crime to arrest Amal

08:15 herself and to put her in such

08:18 detention conditions today it's a very

08:21 sad day also for the Palestinians in

08:23 Gaza who are waiting in the crossings to

08:27 be to go back to the destroy

08:30 neighborhoods just now we have been

08:32 informed of the killing of one

08:34 Palestinians who is waiting in Salah

08:37 Street to cross to go back to Gaza City

08:41 after 15 months of

08:44 displacement yes happy to see this

08:47 prisoner swap but there is so many

08:50 injured today because of the Israel

08:52 shoting towards the Palestinians we hope

08:56 that this uh will continue and we have

08:59 to that all parties to be committed to

09:02 end this deal and to have peace again to

09:05 the gazans and on the same time to start

09:09 the Gaza recovery and to save the lives

09:12 of the Palestinians who in bad need for

09:14 that right so Israel accuses Hamas of

09:17 failing to release civilian hostage Abel

09:21 yahood on Saturday prime minister

09:23 Netanyahu now says Israel will not allow

09:25 gazans to cross into the northern Gaza

09:27 Strip what's going on you think

09:31 already I think this issue was uh ended

09:34 by the Israeli declaration that they

09:37 will uh let in tomorrow the Palestinians

09:41 hundreds of thousands Palestinians who

09:43 were displaced for 15 months to move

09:46 through the two streets Salah and rashed

09:50 Rashid it will be by F and already so

09:53 many be families removed their tents to

09:56 be ready and to stay all the night till

09:59 the early morning to move to their homes

10:02 as you know one week ago there was the

10:04 first Swap and uh there was so many

10:07 families in Gaza City they moved to

10:10 their neighborhoods in the north of Gaza

10:13 Strip they found no homes no place to

10:16 stay in no facilities no infrastructure

10:20 mountains of debris and rubel so we wish

10:24 this would continue from All actors in

10:26 order to to apply this agreement

10:29 on the ground and to find an End for

10:32 this suffering right future time would

10:34 have to end it here I'm J sha head of

10:36 the Palestinian non-governmental

10:38 organizations Network thank you very

10:40 much for your time
